I taught my first workshop today!
I stepped out of my comfort zone today! People ask me all the time for help using their cameras so while it was my slow wedding season I thought I would hold a photography class. But I wanted it to be more than a class. I wanted everyone to be able to shoot during the class as well. So I had a 2 hour workshop! 16 ladies came to learn more about shooting with their cameras on manual mode and I think it was a success!
We talked about aperture, ISO and shutter speed, light and getting natural reactions from your subjects. I had really cute swag bags for everyone and the "venue" was super cozy and the perfect place for the workshop. I was a little bummed that it rained all afternoon but we had a great covered porch to use as plan b.
The next time (and there will be a next time!) I will make the workshop at least 3 hours because 2 hours wasn't enough time to give everyone a little bit of one-on-one time with their cameras. That was the biggest challenge for me! I shoot Nikon so I'm very familiar with how they work but I don't know much about Canon at all. I mean, I do now.. . but... lol!
A very special thanks to my sister-in-law hosting such a wonderful location for us and I'm really excited to plan my next class!!
