Jeni & Barry ~ Wedding at Ale House 1890 Lancaster, Ohio
My day with Barry and Jeni started with the girls' getting ready in their cabin At Trails End in Logan, Ohio. It was a pretty warm day and there was some rain in the forecast but we never got more than a few sprinkles. Jeni had her hair done by Chelsea Heimberger from 2 The Maxx Hair and Nail Salon and her makeup was done by Monica Searing. Everyone was relaxed and excited to get dressed (especially Ellie, Jeni and Barry's daughter) and shoot some portraits before heading to the venue in Lancaster, Ohio, Ale House 1890.
I'd had dinner at the venue before, a really cool little restaurant in the Downtown Main Street area of Lancaster, but I had never been to their banquet space. I'm going to admit, when I walked in I had a mild panic attack. The space is beautiful with moody lighting, exposed brick walls, amazing metal lighting fixtures, stunning church-like windows on one end with a bar on the other and a fabulous outdoor 2nd floor patio for some fresh air and cool views of the hills around the city. But the space is long and narrow, perfect for a smaller guest list, but not much room for a rambunctious photographer to move around without having to step in front of people. I apologized to a few of the guests ahead of time and we giggled about the challenge ahead of me (which I fully accepted.... and ROCKED, I might add ;) and we got underway.
The ceremony was short but beautifully perfect as the bride and groom said their vows, lit their unity candle and had their first kiss as husband and wife. The guys looked very dapper in their suits from OP Gallo. Jeni was stunning in her ivory chiffon Vera Wang fit-and-flare gown from David's Bridal as she carried a bouquet of white calla lilies, feather leaf fern and baby's breath that her bridesmaid, Corinne, put together for her. Jeni purchased the flowers for the girls' bouquets from Flowers of the Good Earth in Lancaster.
After Jeni and Barry were declared husband and wife the party got underway. With tunes provided by Jim Neader, the happy couple had their first dance and the father/daughter dance and mother/son dance as guests feasted on appetizers and drinks before digging into a beautiful "naked cake" of almond and almond buttercream cake with fresh berries, made by Megan Collins, sister-in-law of the bride.
Everything about this wedding was perfect and short and sweet. This was a special event for me because Barry is my nephew and lots of our family was there and I actually received an invitation for this wedding, whiiiiiiiich kinda makes me eligible to eat wedding cake! ;)
